ETAC Service & Supply was officially founded in February 2023 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, by partners Bill Zhang and Conrad Asmundson, P.Eng. The two entrepreneurs combined decades of expertise in finance, technology, and engineering with a shared vision: to deliver innovative and reliable power solutions for North America’s evolving energy sector.
Bill Zhang is a technology and infrastructure entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience. Since founding Vling E Business in 2000, he has led ventures in container manufacturing, high-performance computing, and cryptocurrency data centers. His companies, including MiningSky Technology Ltd. and SkyChain Technologies Inc., contributed to advancements in mining infrastructure, cloud services, and power distribution. In 2022, he launched NewDecade Energy, completing an 8MW BTC mining facility in Manitoba. By 2017, Bill was already designing padmount transformers for industrial applications, experience that helped form the technical and market foundation that later shaped ETAC.
Conrad Asmundson is a professional engineer with nearly thirty years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, and controls (E/I&C). In 2008, he founded AMPS Services Inc., providing engineering solutions for industrial, mining, and utility projects. He later co-founded AMPS Powerline in 2012, expanding into powerline construction and distribution services. Conrad’s work spans detailed engineering design, construction supervision, commissioning, and project management. His long-standing industry expertise and leadership brought strong technical credibility and operational depth, key elements that contributed to the establishment of ETAC.
In less than three years, ETAC has delivered over 60 projects and nearly 200 units of equipment across Canada. The company has built a strong product portfolio, including:
